If you're doing this quest right after Winged Mountain Beasts, prepare for a battle that's twice as hard as the Zahatule (unless you faught both of those at once). This creature's very fast and strong, along with a significant amount of HP. As with any other boss, start off with a variable art. And if you've been leveling up Maya, use her water attacks against it since it's attribute is fire based.
One of the special attacks that Gauraze has is Gust Howling, which attacks the entire party. It does quite a bit of damage, but likely won't kill everyone off right away. Also, the normal attacks from the Gauraze is likely to inflict a plague on the party member it attacks, so beware of this before battle - if you have any items to avoid plague.
