The Rock Golem is the monster you need to watch out for during your initial visit to Gale Canyon. Even though they're slow and typically go last, their attacks are REALLY powerful. You'll likely find yourself healing during or after the battle with a Rock Golem because of its strength. The reward that comes after the Rock Golem is definitely something to love, though. Since you know Sandstorm, it's recommend using it against the Rock Golem.
There are no "real" special attacks, considering all the attacks from Rock Golem are based around two moves: Gigantes Fall and Gigantes Upper. Both of them are very powerful enough - no need for getting hit by a special attack!
